THE STORY OF THE PIG AND THE SPIDER

Today I took my two kids to see Charlotte's Web with three of their friends. I remember reading the book at the very impressionable age of 9 and I have never forgotten the story of Wilbur and Charlotte. While I sat in the theater watching the movie I struggled to choke back the tears when Charlotte left Wilbur. I wiped the streaming tears from my mascara soaked face and could feel a headache coming on when I noticed 10 little eyes staring at me, necks cranked in my direction and asking, "Why are you crying?" In my pathetic response, sputtering and babbling with tears, I shot back, "Because the spider is dying and I just started liking her." Anyone who knows me knows I am deathly afraid of spiders. Seeing Charlotte up close on the big screen with her hairy body and 25 eyes made my skin crawl, my heart race and beads of sweat form in between my breasts, but it was well worth seeing. Seeing the movie brought the book I read as a child to life in this magical story of friendship and love between a pig and a spider.

Presently, I work as a kindergarten teacher assistant in the same school my children attend. Last week the principal asked to meet with me. I was a little hesitant at first, but I promptly agreed. You never know when your boss says, "I need to speak with you about some thing." I figured he must of caught wind that I was wearing jeans to work three times last week while he was on vacation. I must be in for a good reprimanding. He asked me if I wanted to walk to Starbucks for coffee and then he let me have it.

WHAT A BLOW TO THE EGO!

I MEAN A GOOD BLOW!

He asked me how things were going in the kindergarten class and said he didn't want to lose me next year. He said, "I feel as though we are not utilizing your talents, Mindy." I thought to myself, "I kinda like this." I replied, "You've got my attention now. What did you have in mind?" His reply, "I am working on creating a position and I think you are just the person for it. The school does not have a Director of Development and Training.

Like I said, Good energy in....bad energy on its way out!

Well, she beat both of us down the graduation line. We are such losers!
Congratulations, Amber. We love you.

My baby sister Amber finally getting her drink on in Las Vegas. She graduated from University of Oregon on Saturday, June 16th, 2006. I am so proud of her as she makes her way across the country in the fall to New York City for an internship with NBC or CBS. That little smarty pants got to skip a whole year of college because she was such a rockin student in high school. Yes, it really pays to be cool and stay in school.

Congrats Little Sista! I love you!

PS - Amber, just in case you were wondering, I would like to meet OPRAH someday. Keep that in mind when you make it big and we little people are begging for handouts. Just a little OPRAH for me, k. :)

The "Bug" and the "Tank," my childrens' nicknames. Can you tell which one is Hannah? How adorable they are, Hannah is 6 and Braeden is 3. Yes, Braeden is very secure with his manhood and no he is not afraid to dress in drag once in awhile.
